How a Fast-Growing County Partnered with Reimagine Talent Co. to Strengthen Career Readiness, Build Student Confidence, and Develop Tomorrow's Workforce

Preparing students for life after high school requires more than career awareness, it requires intentional workforce development experiences that build confidence, strengthen decision making, and connect learning to real world opportunity.
Recognizing this need, the county partnered with Reimagine Talent Co.® to deliver Career Jumpstart™, our workforce development framework designed to help students confidently navigate postsecondary pathways while preparing for the realities of today's workforce.
The need has never been greater. Recent research from Gallup found that fewer than three in ten high school students feel "very prepared" to pursue the postsecondary pathway they are most interested in, while the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's 2025 New Hire Readiness Report found that 84% of hiring managers believe most high school graduates are not adequately prepared to enter the workforce. Together, these findings highlight a growing disconnect between education, career exploration, and workforce readiness.
Through a customized hybrid learning experience, students explored career possibilities, developed essential professional skills, engaged directly with industry leaders, and gained practical tools to make informed decisions about their futures.
The result was measurable growth in confidence, expanded awareness of career opportunities, exceptional partner satisfaction, and a scalable workforce development model capable of supporting future talent pipeline initiatives.
The Opportunity
Across the country, employers continue to identify workforce readiness as one of the greatest challenges facing early talent. At the same time, students often graduate with limited exposure to career exploration, professional skill development, and the practical realities of today's workplace.
The county recognized an opportunity to address this challenge by investing in an experience that would prepare students before they entered college or the workforce, not simply by introducing career options, but by helping them understand themselves, build confidence, and connect education to future opportunity.
Fewer than three in ten high school students report feeling prepared to pursue their desired postsecondary pathway (Gallup), while the majority of hiring managers believe recent graduates enter the workforce underprepared.
The county sought a strategic partner capable of delivering more than career exploration. They wanted a transformational experience that could strengthen workforce readiness while supporting long-term talent development across the community.
Our Solution
Before designing the experience, Reimagine Talent Co. partnered closely with the county to understand the workforce readiness needs of participating students.
Together, we identified several priorities that would shape the engagement:

Introduce students to emerging technologies shaping today's workforce, including artificial intelligence.

These priorities informed every aspect of Career Jumpstart™, ensuring the experience responded directly to the needs of students rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
From Insights to Action
Rather than delivering a series of standalone workshops, Reimagine Talent Co. implemented Career Jumpstart™ as a cohesive workforce development journey that intentionally guided students from self-discovery to informed action.
Delivered through a hybrid learning experience between November 2025 and February 2026, students progressed through four interconnected learning experiences.
Identity
Students reflected on their strengths, interests, values, and motivations to better understand how their identities connect to future career possibilities.
Career Pathways
Participants explored multiple postsecondary options while expanding their awareness of industries, occupations, and educational opportunities they may not have previously considered.
Professional Skills & Relationships
Interactive activities strengthened communication, networking, professionalism, and other durable skills that transfer across industries and career pathways.
Economic Awareness
Students examined how career decisions influence long-term financial well-being, helping them connect today's choices with tomorrow's opportunities.
Throughout the experience, students explored practical applications of artificial intelligence to support career exploration, resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies. By introducing AI as a career development tool, not simply a technology trend, the experience helped students build confidence using resources that are increasingly shaping hiring and workforce practices.
Guided discussions, structured reflection, and conversations with professionals representing healthcare, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, logistics, and cosmetology transformed career exploration into actionable planning.
